RS-232/Fiber Optic Module - FIB-MOD

The CBA-32P is connected to the host computer via a high-speed (57,600 baud) fiber optic link and an RS-232 adapter module that plugs into the serial port of the computer. A pair of optical cables, 10 feet (3 m) long, and an RS-232 module are supplied with the CBA-32P at no extra charge.

The standard fiber optic cable delivered with the CBA-32P instrument is 10 feet (3 m) long. On request, a 200 foot (61 m) cable may be supplied (price available on request). Other lengths may be supplied.

The main advantage of a longer cable is to be able to place the host computer and the operator in a remote shelter, protected from extreme cold, intense sunlight and heat, rain or any other environment that may be hostile to the equipment or the operators.

To allow the connection between the communication module and laptop computers with only USB ports, Zensol offers USB to serial port converters.
